“Strong Lebanon” bloc stressed Tuesday support for the formation of a national unity cabinet with a wider representation.
Following the bloc’s weekly meeting, MP Ibrahim Kanaan noted that the people have spoken in the parliamentary elections, pointing out that “distributing the rights according to sizes ends the formation process in 15 minutes.”
“Anyone seeking a share larger than their bloc size is obstructing the cabinet formation while the current situation cannot allow delay,” he added.
The bloc pointed out that the president is pushing towards saving time and starting the formation, stating that resolving the economic situation requires a cabinet that prioritizes the economic sector.
On the ministerial statement, Kanaan emphasized that said statement must include the priorities of the Lebanese citizens.
Concerning the issue of the refugees return, the MP said that “consensus must be reached over the safe return of the Syrian refugees to Syria,” calling on all parties to be united over this matter since the burdens have become unbearable.
“A clear plan must be put in place for the return of the refugees,” he continued.
