Caretaker Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq held a series of security meetings during the first day of his visit to Saudi Arabia and they lasted until midnight.
On Monday evening, al-Mashnouq met with Saudi Intelligence Chief Lieutenant General Khaled Hmaidan in long meeting where they discussed the security affairs and cooperation between Lebanon and Saudi Arabia, as well as the developments in the Arab region and the Iranian intervention in the affairs of the Arab states and Africa.
Then, he headed to the State Security command headquarters, where he held a meeting with the apparatus’ chief and member of the Political and Economic Council, Lieutenant General Abdelaziz Al Huwairini. Their meeting tackled the Saudi-Lebanese ties and the latest political developments.
The Saudi official expressed Saudi Arabia’s keenness on Lebanon’s political and economic stability, and Saudi Arabia’s openness to all Lebanese sects, in order to serve Lebanon’s unity and Arabism.
The officials said they are also keen on PM-designate Saad Hariri’s success in forming a cabinet that protects this stability.
