During the visit of Economic and Social Council, Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros Rai affirmed that the government should coordinate with the council and consult with it regarding economic and social matters.
The patriarch added that a country is strong because of its strong economy, stable currency, growth and development, job opportunities, advanced technology, diverse productions and ability to compete.
“Forming the cabinet from only representatives of the blocs doesn’t mean forming a procedural authority but a small parliament which contradicts with separation of authorities,” he stated.
The patriarch called for abstaining from wasting important resources available in Lebanon, urging instead to use these resources to boost Lebanon’s growth and prosperity.
He reminded that the main reason behind this deadlock is the spread of corruption across ministries and public administrations and the waste of public funds.
