In a statement, Speaker Nabih Berri condemned the decision of Israeli Knesset which stipulates that “the occupied Palestine is the Jewish national-state, and that the right to decide fate in it belongs only to the Jews, occupied Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and the official language is the Hebrew instead of Arabic.”
Berri said that on his behalf and the behalf of the parliament, he announces their condemnation of this hostile action, through which the Israeli Knesset legalized a racist entity on all levels, including military, political and legislative.”
“We put this aggression and all of its repercussions and dangers in the hands of the International Community and the United Nations, and we call upon the Inter-Parliamentary Union and Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union to take action and assume responsibility to take the appropriate legal measures against this country which is, unfortunately, a member in both of these organizations,” Berri said in a statement.
“We urge the Islamic Consultative Assembly and Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union which are in an extraordinary session dedicated for Jerusalem in Cairo to include in its agenda this dangerous development that affects geography and the fate of the Palestinian identity,” he noted.
The speaker urged the Palestinian forces and organizations to strengthen their unity and solidarity to fight against this racist Israeli aggression.
