850 Syrian refugees kicked off their voluntary return from Arsal on Monday morning, under the supervision of Lebanese General Security and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), amid security measures implemented by the Lebanese Armed Forces and Intelligence units, with assistance from relief teams and accompanied by a Red Cross mobile clinic.
The Lebanese General Security established a center in the border region of Wadi Hmeid, to register the returning refugees through the Zamarani crossing point into Syrian territories.
The return process has started since the early morning hours and is expected to end around noon.
