Caretaker Justice Minister Salim Jreissati responded Saturday to the report issued by the Human Rights Watch Organization, in which it raised concerns that the 8 Lebanese IS fighters will be subject to abuse and violations after being handed over to Lebanon.
Speaking to LBCI, Jreissati said that “the Lebanese judiciary has followed up on the delivery of these Islamic State fighters in all its phases,” noting that their trial in Lebanon is their guarantee.
He added that their interrogation by the military judiciary will be conducted under the supervision of the state commissioner to the military court Judge Peter Germanos.
