During the speech delivered by US President Donald Trump at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, caretaker Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil commented on the president’s remarks on Twitter, where he said:
“President Trump, in his speech at UNGA, said that migrants are best to stay in their countries to “make them great again”, and that migration is not a “global” issue but needs to be addressed by sovereign nations as per their “interests”! He is right, yet, he did not mention Lebanon in name while thanking the countries who received Syrians displaced... To ALL Lebanese, LISTEN and LEARN that nobody will recognize the “Global Good” that Lebanon has done unless we apply our laws and act according to Lebanese interests.”
