Former Minister Elias al-Murr was re-elected as the Head of the Interpol Foundation for a second term of seven years until 20 November 2025.
In a press conference following his reelection, al-Murr reaffirmed Interpol's "absolute support to fighting terrorism and organized crime at all levels."
"We have now entered a new phase with overwhelming international support; thus, shouldering greater responsibilities that require additional efforts due to the sensitive security situation in many parts of the world,” he added.
Al-Murr and Interpol General Secretary Jürgen Stoke signed a new agreement between the Interpol Foundation and Organization on Tuesday, which includes restructuring and development of their joint partnership. The agreement was unanimously voted for by the 192 world countries of the Interpol General Assembly.
