Machnouq: Hariri will not backtrack on forming new Cabinet

Caretaker Minister of Interior Nouhad Machnouq said on Sunday that Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri will not backtrack on forming a new government.

Machnouq’s comments were made during Beirut Development Conference whereby he said that Hariri will remain in charge of forming a Cabinet regardless of any presidential or partisan pressures.

Machnouk also called for solidarity with Hariri in order to save Lebanon, adding that the economic situation is “very bad.”

Commenting on the Ramlet al-Bayda’s flood, Machnouq asserted that those who are responsible for the floods would be held accountable “regardless of their affiliation.”
