Maronite Patriarch Beshara Boutros Rai addressed the Lebanese politicians, accusing them of obstructing the formation of a new government, leading to the worsening of the economic and financial crisis, which has reached a dangerous level, caused further poverty and crushed the hopes and ambitions of the youth.
In his sermon during Sunday mass in Bkerke, Rai stressed that this situation has become unacceptable, asking in turn: “How can officials and parliamentary blocs hold discussions and dialogue, while each and every one of them is committed to their views and demands?”
“Is the intended goal obstructing the state, which has been sustaining losses in the revenues and a growing public debt?” he continued.
In this context, the patriarch urged the politicians to build, rather than destroy.
