Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri stressed that one cannot look to the future of the states of the Levant and prepare for the next stage without women’s participation in shaping this future.
In his speech during Economic Empowerment of Arab Women at the Grand Serail, Hariri emphasized that the absence of women in the work force is an absence of half of society, which represents a loss in the GDP and in growth, as well as a loss in productivity and competitiveness.
Hariri announced Lebanon’s commitment to a work program aiming at empowering women on the economic level, noting that he seeks to increase the participation of women in the labor market by at least 5% over the next five years.
