Arab League Secretary General: We are saddened by Libya’s absence
Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Aboul Gheit said on Sunday that he is "saddened by the absence of the Libyan delegation from the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit."
He also voiced hopes that the conditions that led to Libya's absence would be addressed.
On another note, Aboul Gheit said during the inauguration of the summit that more than half the population of the Arab world is not connected to the internet.
“The development that we aspire to can’t be achieved unless we invest in human beings,” he added.
He also hoped to show greatest support to the communities under the pressure of humanitarian crises, including Lebanon and Jordan.
