Arab leaders participate in Beirut’s summit, deliver speeches
Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah asserted on Sunday that Israel continues “confiscating our land and controlling the movement of goods and people to prevent the establishment of a contiguous Palestinian state."
 
Hamdallah’s comments were made during his speech at the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit in Beirut whereby he voiced confidence in the decisions of the economic summit that would generate Arab investments in Palestine.
 
For his part, Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz called for a “comprehensive and fair solution for the Palestinian Cause that is based on the International resolutions and the Arab initiative for peace.
 
He also stressed importance of achieving peace in Yemen and Syria also.
 
As for Sudan’s First Vice President Bakri Hassan Saleh, he asserted need to redouble efforts to unite the Arabs in order to meet the challenges ahead, “calling for rising above the differences and putting an end for all forms of isolation and estrangement.”

Meanwhile, President of the People's National Assembly of Algeria said in his speech that development can’t be achieved without security.
 
“Development can be done by directing development strategies towards the Arab human beings and “helping young people to avoid falling into the grips of extremism and terrorism.”
 
In turn, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah declared the initiative of Kuwaiti Emir to establish a technology investment fund with a capital of US $ 200 million with the participation of the private sector.
Kuwait also said that it will contribute $ 50 million. This as the Qatari delegation pledged $ 50 million to set up the technology investment fund.

Egypt’s Foreign Affairs Minister Sameh Choukri also delivered a speech in which he stressed that the energy-related dossiers are one of the priorities of the summit, announcing Egypt’s readiness to transfer its expertise in the field of electricity.
He also stressed importance of translating all the initiatives and decisions that will be issued by the summit to concrete efforts on the ground.

For his part, Tunisian Foreign Minister Khamis Al-Jahnawi called for focusing the joint efforts on the economic, social and human development as the main introduction to “the immunity of societies.”
 
Also, The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa voiced hopes that the summit would reflect the hopes “of the Arab nation for development, prosperity, facing challenges and opening new areas for joint action in sustainable development."
 
This as Iraqi Foreign Affairs Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim said that today’s policy of Iraq is to extend the hand of cooperation and attracting foreign investments.
 
For his part, Yemeni Industry and Trade Minister Mohammed Al-Maitami voiced hopes that Yemen attaches hopes on the support “of the Arab brothers in order to overcome the Yemeni disaster,” adding that the Yemeni government “is determined to end the suffering of the Yemeni people."
