Sentence of Bassil-Joe Maalouf lawsuit issued
The Mount Lebanon Court of Publications chaired by Judge Elie Helo issued on Thursday its sentence in the libel, slander and defamation lawsuit filed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Gebran Bassil against an episode of “Hawa al-Horiye” TV show hosted by Joe Maalouf.

The sentence condemned the two defendants Joe Maalouf and Rami Zein el-Din and abided them to compensate the plaintiff for the caused damages with an amount of ten million Lebanese pounds.

The sentence shall also be published during the first episode that will be broadcast after its issuance.

The sentence noted that the content of the episode, which is the subject of the lawsuit, constitutes a slander against the plaintiff in matters that infringe his honor and dignity and challenge his integrity by accusing him of corruption, exploiting his position and collecting a huge alleged wealth, according to the state-run National News Agency.
