Minister Boustani: Delay in implementing electricity plan will cost millions
Minister of Energy Nada Boustani detailed on Thursday the electricity plan that she suggested on the Cabinet today.

Boustani stressed that the most important factor for its success is “the political consensus around it in form and in content.”

“Any delay can affect the course of the integrated plan," she added during a press conference.

The minister noted that the plan has two main goals: to reduce the fiscal deficit of Lebanon's electricity and to improve the electricity’s services through three factors: the reduction of the total waste, the increase in production and the increase of tariffs.

"We are integrating temporary solutions and durable solutions, which increases the competitiveness and transparency through a global bidding as well as fast and unhurried procedures," Boustani said.

She also pointed out that the delay in implementing this plan for one week starting from today will cost the Lebanese state more than 150 million dollars a month.
