President Michel Aoun welcomed the United States’ help for the demarcation of the maritime and land borders, stressing Lebanon’s commitment to the implementation of the UN resolution 1701 to maintain stability, despite the Israeli violations.
Aoun told US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo during the meeting at Baabda presidential palace, that “maintaining national unity and civil peace is a priority,” noting that Hezbollah is a Lebanese party stemming from a popular base that represents one of the main sects in Lebanon.
The president also asked the US for help in the Syrian refugees’ return to safe areas in Syria, stressing that the return operations organized by the Lebanese General Security will continue.
