Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said Tuesday that the US decision to recognize Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights is a blatant disregard to the Arab and Islamic worlds, and a disregard to all the international laws, international resolutions, international institutions, international community and international consensus.
He added that “Israel’s ultimate supporter cannot be a sponsor to the peace process in the region while striking it with a fatal blow.”
Nasrallah noted that “when the world allowed Trump to seize Jerusalem and declare it capital of Israel, they paved the way for any US violation,” expecting that Trump might recognize Israel’s sovereignty over the West Bank.
“If the Arab states had any life, honor or conscious left, the Tunisia summit must withdraw the Arab peace initiative that was decided during Beirut summit in 2002 and return to square one,” he stressed.
He also considered that the only choice for the Syrians, the Lebanese and the Palestinians to reclaim their rights is the resistance.
The Shiite party chief also commented on the visit made by US State Secretary Mike Pompeo to Lebanon, saying that “we are pleased that the Trump administration is angry with us this much, since in our culture, it is the great evil.”
He also pointed out that the real goal of Pompeo’s visit was to incite the Lebanese against each other, stressing that Washington’s eye is on a civil war in Lebanon.
In his speech, Nasrallah said that Pompeo’s problem with Hezbollah is that it was part of those who fought and overthrew the US project in Syria and it stands as an obstacle to “the deal of the century.”
“The US does not care about Lebanon’s interest or the interest of a certain Lebanese party, its only concern is Israel and any bet made on the US is a bad bet,” he warned.
“We must not allow large or small evils to create strife inside Lebanon,” Nasrallah emphasized, adding that the party is very convinced with its choices and committed to civil peace, coexistence, the state’s institutions and the Lebanese army.
Hezbollah’s chief noted that “what put the Lebanese people in danger is Israel, which is backed by the United States,” explaining that the resistance kept this danger away from the Lebanese people.
He stressed that Hezbollah is an essential part in forming the equation for stability in Lebanon, reiterating that they are very keen on maintaining stability, security and prosperity.
“What prevent Israel from waging a war on Lebanon are the unity of the Lebanese parties and the Resistance’s ability to confront,” he said.
