Speaker Nabih Berri held a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdel Mahdi in the presence of a number of ministers and officials, including Iraqi Ambassador to Lebanon Ali al-Ameri.
Berri highlighted the importance of national unity among the Lebanese who, according to him, "can make further achievements thanks to their unity."
"Iraq can play a crucial role at the regional level," he said, stressing the need to bolster the policy of openness and to play a bigger role in the reconciliation between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
The speaker also said that that the key crisis in Lebanon is the economic condition, which he depicted as serious, emphasizing the importance of working on reducing public deficit; otherwise, Lebanon might be faced with negative consequences.
