Deadly shootout shakes Tripoli on Eid al-Fitr Eve
Islamist Abdel-Rahman Mabsout opened fire at security forces on the eve of Eid al-Fitr late Monday night in Tripoli before he blew himself up after a shootout with members from the Lebanese army and Internal Security Forces.

During the shootout, Mabsout killed LAF Lieutenant Hassan Ali Farhat, soldier Ibrahim Mohammad Saleh, ISF Sergeant Johnny Khalil and ISF Corporal Youssef Faraj.

The attack began around 11:00 PM, Monday night, when Mabsout opened fire at the Central Bank building in Tripoli alone.

He then was on a motorcycle as he fired at different targets. Mabsout began shooting from the roof of a building that he hid in.

Mabsout blew himself up with an explosive belt when Security Forces besieged the building.

Abdel-Rahman Mabsout fought with ISIS in Syria and served time in Lebanese prison in 2016 and 2017.
