Prime Minister Saad Hariri called Tuesday during the cabinet session for speeding up the pace of decision-making in order to indicate the seriousness and credibility of the government in addressing the economic and financial concerns.”
At the beginning of the session, Hariri said that the cabinet cannot continue working at the same pace, adding that everyone is responsible for keeping Lebanon safe.
"We have held 19 cabinet meetings to agree on this draft budget and these sessions were not for fun, but for deep, detailed debate over every clause and every idea," Hariri said.
"For this reason, I consider it the responsibility of each of us in government to have ministerial solidarity...to defend in parliament the decision that we have taken together," he added.
The PM added that there is a clear roadmap to speed up the approval of the first stage of the national investment program, funding for which had been ensured at $11 billion at Cedre conference.
“We must start discussing the 2020 budget draft law within the constitutional deadline, through which we will continue financial correction to ensure financial and economic safety,” he continued.
