French Ambassador to Lebanon Bruno Foucher said Sunday that “during the Cedre conference held in Paris last April, Lebanon’s partners, mainly France, strongly expressed the support they wish to provide it to the country.”
In a speech he delivered from the Pine Residence on the occasion of France’s Bastille Day, Foucher said that the approach followed at Cedre was that of partnership between Lebanon and the International Community.
“While this partnership is benevolent, it is at the same time demanding,” he said, noting that in order to implement it, it is important for confidence to reign among the parties.
“This confidence cannot grow unless clear actions and concrete measures are implemented,” he stressed.
The ambassador added that the current difficult economic situation in Lebanon require determined measures by the authorities in order to deal with these ancient and deep problems.
