Parliament passes 2019 state budget - PM Hariri on TV
Parliament passed the 2019 state budget on Friday, Prime Minister Saad Hariri said in a live broadcast as his coalition government seeks to bring the public debt under control.

This as 83 MPs approved the budget, 17 lawmakers objected it and only 1 MP (Michel Daher) refrained from voting.

The MPs who voted against the state’s Budget are: Fouad Makhzoumi, Paula Yaacoubian, Ousama Saad, Eddy Dermerjian, Georges Adwan, Eddy Abi Lamaa, Pierre Bou Assi, Jean Talouzian, Georges Okais, Antoine Habchi, Wehbe Qatisha, Chawki al-Daccache, Jamil al-Sayyed, Sami Gemayel, Nadim al-Gemayel and Jihad al-Samad.

The budget is seen as a critical test of Lebanon's ability to address years of economic mismanagement and corruption that have led it to build up one of the world's heaviest public debt burdens, equivalent to about 150% of GDP.
