A delegation of retired servicemen, headed by MPs Chamel Roukoz and Jean Talouzian, arrived Friday to the Constitutional Council’s Secretariat to submit the partial appeal against a the articles 23, 47, 48 and 82 of the 2019 state budget law, which was signed by more than 10 deputies.
The signatories are Jean Talouzian, Assadd Haran, Eddy Demerjian, Samy Gemayel, Estephan Douaihy, Chamel Roukoz, Paula Yaacoubian, Fouad Makhzoumi, Abdel Rahim Mrad, Elias Hankash and Nadim Gemayel.
MP Roukoz stressed that the judiciary and military institutions are the basic pillars of the country on which is built the economy, security and stability.
In turn, MP Talouzian said that they are applying their democratic right, noting that the Lebanese Constitution gives them the right to submit the appeal before the Constitutional Council.
“It is our duty as deputies and former military officers to do this and it is the duty of the Constitutional Council to look into the appeal,” he noted, stressing that they will abide by whatever decision issued in this regard.
