Dozens of journalists and activists staged on Wednesday a solidarity stand outside Beirut Justice Palace, to support “Nida al-Watan” newspaper, as its editor-in-chief Beshara Charbel and chief director George Brabari appeared for questioning before the general prosecutor.
In this context, Charbel has told LBCI that they stand here to confirm their right to practice the freedom of speech under the law and the constitution.
Following the interrogation session, Charbel noted that the atmosphere was positive, voicing his respect to any decision issued by the general prosecution.
In turn, MP Boutros Harb, who is representing the editor-in-chief and the chief director of the newspaper, said that the atmosphere is positive and there is no criminal offense.
He stated that the lawsuit comes as an attempt to prevent opposition in Lebanon, which obstructs the democratic system in Lebanon.
