Abou Faour from Martyrs’ Square: They go to Syria to beg for the presidency

Industry Minister Wael Abou Faour stressed that turning the security apparatuses into a tools used by the ruling parties is unacceptable, calling on Prime Minister Saad Hariri to exercise his prerogatives in this regard.

During a rally organized by the Progressive Socialist Party Youth organization, Abou Faour responded to the statement of Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil during the Arab Foreign Ministers meeting without naming him, saying “whoever spoke, represented himself and voiced his own opinion and the interests of his movements, and does not express the stance of the government.”

“How can you turn the table on anyone, when the table is yours, the decision is yours, the ministers are yours and you monopolize the power and table? Who are you threatening exactly?” he said.

In the same context, Abou Faour said: “You go to Syria to beg for the presidency because there are people who told you that the road to the presidency passes through Damascus and the time has come for the people to urge you to step down.”

“You are the economic conspiracy against Lebanon and you are the ones who destroyed Lebanon’s economy through imposing obstruction to take over power.

You obstructed the government for years to appoint as ministers those who lost in the elections, you hindered the country for years to reach the presidency,” he accused.

The Progressive Socialist Party Youth organization staged a peaceful rally, where the protesters marched from Cola to Martyrs’ Square.
