A number of citizens blocked the road in Nabatieh with garbage spilled from bins piled along the streets in the city.
Security forces reopened the main road connecting Douwar Harouf-Toul-al-Doueir to the city of Nabatieh and removed the waste from the middles of the road.
The protesters said that their movement came amid a serious waste crisis, stressing that garbage have been piling up across the streets, mainly in the towns of Harouf and Marj Harouf, and causing bad smells.
They added that they received promises that the garbage will be collected from the streets within hours, threatening of more movements in case these promises were not met.
