Nasrallah: Reports that Lebanon is not a safe country are lies fabricated by US

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah declared on Monday that he will not tackle the matter related to the cabinet formation since the meetings are underway and the discussions are ongoing, noting that they will leave the door open to reach the best result.

In a televised speech on the occasion of Martyr’s Day, Nasrallah said that many demands and headlines were raised during the popular movements, noting that the real call is for fighting corruption and recovering stolen public funds and there is consensus over this matter.

“I do not think that anyone today can protect a corrupt person,” he said.

Nasrallah stressed that fighting corruption requires brave and independent judges, information to be presented to the judiciary and fair and just trials to convict the corrupt officials as well as a mechanism to recover stolen public funds.

Addressing the judges, he said: “You must take a bold and brave steps in the corruption file and you must act within your prerogatives without being subject to the influence of any party.”

To the Supreme Judicial Council he said: “If there is any case related to an official in Hezbollah, I urge you to start with us and I guarantee Hezbollah’s respect to such measure and ensure lifting immunity off any official until the related law is passed.”

On another note, the Hezbollah chief explained that the United States is responsible for the situation in Lebanon by preventing the country from recovering and by deepening the impasse, adding that the Chinese companies are ready to invest billions of dollars in Lebanon but we have reports saying that they are prevented from doing so by the Americans.

He announced that the Iranian companies can invest in Lebanon, but they are also prevented by the United States, pointing out that the Lebanese companies have fears from taking part in Syria’s reconstruction because of US sanctions.

Nasrallah also considered that the Iraqi market is a historic opportunity for Lebanon, but everything depends on an agreement between the Lebanese and Syrian authorities regarding access to border crossings and tax reductions.

The Shiite party chief stressed that the US is obstructing the border demarcation process and the oil and gas sector, stating that the Lebanese government must revitalize the agriculture and Industrial sectors.

“The reports saying that Lebanon is not a safe country are lies fabricated by the US,” he affirmed, stressing that Lebanon is safer than any American State but the US uses the intimidation policy to prevent investments in Lebanon.

He also noted that the party’s money is not in the bank, explaining that the sanctions on the banking sector target Lebanon and the Lebanese people and they seek to create strife between the Lebanese citizens and then hold the Resistance responsible.
