Melhem Khalaf was elected on Sunday as President of Beirut Bar Association, with 2341 votes.
After his win, Khalaf hoped that “this democratic scene will spread out across Lebanon,” vowing that the Bar Association will protect the freedoms and the people’s rights.
For his part, Nader Kasbar, who was competing with Khalaf for the president’s position, stressed that his is an independent citizen and is not affiliated with any party, voicing support for Khalaf in his mandate.
