President Michel Aoun informed UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jan Kubis that he will keep deploying efforts to form a new cabinet, which will have the necessary political cover and will include representatives of various political parties, as well as technocratic ministers and representatives of the civil movement.
He also said that he will determine a date for the parliamentary consultations once the discussions held between the political parties to overcome the obstructions before the formation end.
During the meeting held at Baabda presidential palace in the presence of Minister of State for Presidential Affairs Salim Jreissati, Aoun stressed that the economic and financial situations are being monitored and progressively addressed, noting that the latest achievement in this regard is the resumption of banking operations in coordination with the central bank and by ensuring the safety measures for the employees.
On another note, the president reiterated to the UN official that Lebanon is fully committed to the UN Security Council Resolution 1701, in cooperation with the international forces, despite the ongoing Israeli violations as well as Israel’s claims that there are missiles directed towards the occupied lands.
Kubis had briefed Aoun on the meetings he held in Washington, Tel Aviv and Abu Dhabi, in anticipation for the session to be held by the UN Security Council next Monday.
