Acting President of the General Labor Confederation (GLC) Hassan Fakih called for the formation of an emergency cabinet to rescue the country from further deterioration, expressing surprise over the failure of the caretaker cabinet to convene. “The cabinet should not resign from its duties towards the citizens,” he added.
In a press conference, Fakih said that “the arbitrary layoffs happening in several sectors are dangerous,” noting that employers cannot give an urgent circumstance as an excuse.
He stressed the need for the military and security forces to protect the citizens’ right to commute and protest in squares.
