Caretaker Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil declared that the Strong Lebanon bloc nominated Hassan Diab for the premiership, “since he is an independent and competent personality.”
He stressed the importance of forming a cabinet as soon as possible, with competent ministers.
Speaking from Baabda palace, Bassil said that their participation in the cabinet is secondary, adding that they do not support including politicians in the formation.
“The government should obtain the confidence of the people and the parliament, as well as acceptance of from the Arab and International Communities,” he explained.
