President Aoun meets UK Defense Senior Advisor

President Michel Aoun welcomed Senior adviser to the British Ministry of Defense for Middle East Affairs, General Sir John Lorimer on Tuesday at Baabda Presidential Palace.

Aoun informed Lorimer that the economic and financial crisis that Lebanon is facing nowadays should be addressed to mitigate its consequences.

Aoun pointed out that the International Monetary Fund will provide Lebanon with its technical expertise in the plan that will be adopted.

"The regional tension in several Middle Eastern states, mainly in Syria, had taken its toll on the situation in Lebanon," Aoun said, stressing the need to counter the repercussions.

Aoun also thanked the British Government for its support for the Lebanese Army and the Internal Security Forces.

For his part, Lorimer affirmed that “Britain will continue to support Lebanon, especially its army and security forces.”
