Lebanon is not bankrupt- BDL Governor to Paris Match

Banque Du Liban Governor Riyad Salameh told on Thursday French Paris Match magazine that Lebanon is “not a bankrupt country.”

“Despite defaulting and despite the recession caused by the Coronavirus epidemic, the country is not bankrupt as products arrive on the markets, prices of gasoline, medicines and flour have not changed,” he added.

Salameh also noted that “having sufficient reserves to finance essential imports into the country proves that we have done our job in a professional manner, otherwise there would be no more bank, no more money.”
