Cabinet declares two-week state of emergency
Minister of Information Manal Abdel Samad said on Wednesday that the Cabinet had adopted the Higher Defense Council’s statement, mainly in terms of declaring Beirut a disaster city and declaring a renewable two-week state of emergency in Beirut.
She also noted that the military was instructed to maintain security, adding that funds will be allocated to hospitals and compensations to the families of the fallen martyrs.
The Cabinet also instructed the Ministry of Public Works to take all necessary measures to secure import and export operations in Tripoli and Sidon ports.
The cabinet also entrusted the Higher Relief Committee with providing shelter for families whose homes have been destroyed, by opening schools and hotels to receive them.
