Shea: Sanctions on Bassil is clear example of how Washington holds the corrupt accountable

US ambassador Dorothy Shea said on Wednesday that the Lebanese state must implement immediate reforms, adding that sanctions imposed on Free Patriotic Movement head Gebran Bassil is “a clear example of how Washington holds the corrupt accountable."

This as US Special Representative for Iran and Venezuela Elliott Abrams said that the United States will impose new sanctions today on four entities linked to Iran.

Abrams’s comments were made during a special event at the Beirut Institute via Internet whereby he accused these entities in China and Russia of carrying out activities that support Iran’s missile program.

He also warned that Washington would continue to pressure Iran through sanctions that are expected in the coming weeks related to weapons, weapons of mass destruction and human rights.
