Lebanon News
Member of the Democratic Gathering MP Bilal Abdallah affirmed on Saturday keenness on holding the parliamentary elections, considering that it is a firm conviction among the majority of political blocs and the Lebanese people.

He added during an interview with LBCI’s Nharkom Said TV show that providing aids had nothing to do neither with the elections nor with their results.

MP Abdallah appealed to youth organizations to advocate regarding the Democratic Gathering’s proposal to lower voting age to 18 years, arguing that youth are a big part of society who are capable of driving change but who cannot yet participate in the political life.

As for the women quota, Abdallah said that this topic was halted in the parliamentary session under the pretence of not allowing the parliamentary elections to be “rightly or wrongly” postponed.

He reiterated that the topic of women quota is of the essence, and it requires everyone's firm conviction to involve women, pointing out that "the organizations of the Progressive Socialist Women's Party fight for this issue."

On the subject of the government, Abdallah hoped that the new government would be given a chance. “The government cannot do miracles, but it will pave the way for reforms, negotiate with the International Monetary Fund, try to stop the collapse, and give the minimum level of confidence,” he concluded.
