Patriarch Rai meets newly appointed British ambassador to Lebanon

Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai met on Monday in Bkerke with the newly appointed British Ambassador to Lebanon Ian Collard.

 

During the meeting, Patriarch Rai stressed the importance of the support offered by Lebanon’s friends in these difficult times, as well as the importance of holding an International conference for Lebanon.

 

They both agreed on the necessity of holding free, fair and transparent parliamentary elections that preserve the right of the Lebanese people in choosing their representatives.

 

For his part, the British ambassador reiterated that his country stands beside Lebanon in order to preserve its independence, sovereignty and its leading role in the region.
