Audi urges officials to help Lebanese restore state’s authority, impose its prestige
Metropolitan bishop of the Greek Orthodox Church for the Archdiocese of Beirut Elias Audi pointed out on Sunday that “salvation is achieved only by hard work, diligence and perseverance.”

Audi also hoped that “the country’s officials would help themselves and their people to restore the state’s authority, impose its prestige, and obtain actual independence, in order to rise from the repression,” adding that “it was brought by the grave sins of its leaders, from endless greed and exploiting the sectarian sense.”

In his Sunday sermon, Audi stressed that "exhausted Lebanese can no longer tolerate threats, accept submission or silence,” pointing out that "what happened last week reminded Lebanese of the war’s beginning, as they are not ready to experience it again, and no life for a country without justice and rule of law.”

"Civilians and officials should think with reason, awareness and a sense of responsibility in order to overcome this ordeal and build a modern state," Audi stated.

He also urged officials to do their best to help Lebanon that has been suffering for too long.
