MP Maalouf to LBCI: Elections date set on March 27 will diminish voting turnout
Strong Lebanon bloc MP Eddy Maalouf said on Monday that the date of parliamentary elections set on March 27 will diminish the voting turnout as well as the mega centers.

“Transport to vote will become more difficult with the increase of gasoline prices, especially that some parties would offer transportation for their partisans,” he noted.

Maalouf also added during an interview with LBCI’s Nharkom Said TV show that the set date corresponds with the Christian fast.

“We can hold the parliamentary elections within the 3 weeks that follow the holy month of Ramadan,” he added.

On another note, the lawmaker stressed that “not everyone who challenge the elections date intends to sabotage the polls.”
