Rai warns against any attempt to postpone parliamentary elections
Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai confirmed on Sunday that it is time for parliamentary life to get back to normal, warning against any attempt to postpone elections.

He explained that parliamentary elections are not only a periodic constitutional entitlement, but rather a platform and a starting point for reviving Lebanon’s entity, identity, role and privacy, in order to protect its threatened fate.

During his Sunday’s sermon, Rai tackled the issue of the judiciary, noting that all those concerned with Beirut Port blast want “the investigations to remain ongoing and truth to become clear, so that suspicions and initial accusations no longer hover over everyone’s head whether they are responsible or not.”

Rai also highlighted the disrupting work of the government, asking “by what right does the Council of Ministers be prevented from holding a session?”
