Parliament's health committee head MP Assem Araji stressed on Wednesday during an interview with Nharkom Said TV show on LBCI that “the number of COVID-19 infections recorded on Tuesday was more than 5000, and is expected to further surge.”

He also revealed that the hospitals’ occupancy rate for Coronavirus patients has reached 80% across Lebanon. 
 
He then underlined the importance of receiving the vaccine, noting that 85% to 90% of infections that require intensive treatment and close monitoring are unvaccinated, pointing out that “Lebanese people no longer have any excuse not to get vaccinated.”
 
Regarding lockdown, Araji explained that “it was up for discussion, but the decision has not yet been made.”
