Berri says elections must be starting point to keep provocative rhetoric aside-[VIDEO]
Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri called on Tuesday for the election results to be a point where we keep the provocative rhetoric aside

In a speech to the Lebanese, Berri touched on the results of the parliamentary elections.

“It is our destiny to live together as crises cross sects and no sect wants to abolish another sect,” Berri added.

“Lebanon is the oldest democracy in history.” He explained.

On another note, Berri indicated that it is time for drafting an electoral law free of sectarian limitations, a women’s quota, lowering of the voting age, the adoption of a law on the independence of the judiciary, as well as for a serious dialogue to establish a transition from a sectarian quota state to a civil one and the adoption of expanded administrative decentralization.

Regarding Lebanon's maritime borders and wealth, Berri stated that this is a sovereign issue for the Amal-Hezbollah alliance, refusing to bargain on it.
