Health Ministry: No reported or suspected monkeypox cases in Lebanon so far
What is being circulated about monkeypox cases recorded in Lebanon is incorrect, as the Health Ministry stressed on Monday that “there is no reported or suspected case of monkeypox in Lebanon so far, and if there were any, it would be officially announced by the Ministry.”

The Health Ministry also explained that monkeypox is a viral disease that is transmitted through direct contact with infected animals, direct contact with an infected person through respiratory particles, or through the respiratory secretions of a person infected with the disease or its skin lesions, or by contacting things that have been contaminated with its fluids and secretions.

It then indicated that the incubation period for the disease is between 5 and 21 days, saying that the disease will not be transmitted during this period.

“The symptoms of the disease are fever, headache, swollen lymph nodes, back and muscle pain, severe weakness, in addition to the appearance of a rash,” the Ministry stated.
