Israel warns Hezbollah that any attack on gas field may spark war
Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz warned on Monday Hezbollah that any attack on the Karish offshore gas field could spark a war.

Gantz stated that gas extraction operations from the field would begin when it is ready to produce, stressing Israel's claim to Karish field.

Gantz’ comments were made during an interview with 103 FM radio, whereby he mentioned that Israel is both ready to protect its assets and ready to reach an agreement with the Lebanese government, via American mediation, regarding the Sidon field, he indicated in reference to another gas field known in Lebanon as Qana field.

“I believe that there will be two gas fields in the future, one on our side and the other on theirs,” he added, hoping that they will not have to go through another round of confrontations before then.

Asked if any attack by Hezbollah against an Israeli gas field could lead to war, Gantz said “yes, it could trigger a reaction.”

He went on to say that it could lead to several days of fighting and to a military campaign, saying that they are strong and ready for this scenario, but they don't want that.
