Following Trump’s speech at the United Nations General Assembly, whereby he spoke about the resettlement of refugees in countries closest to their home country, Lebanese deputies from different parliamentary blocs reiterated a unified position at the sidelines of the legislative session held on Wednesday.
They all stressed Lebanon’s firm and clear position against the resettlement of refuges, but all eyes are now set on the stance to be launched officially by President Michel Aoun in his speech scheduled to be delivered on Thursday.
This is not the first time the issue of the resettling refugees is raised by the International Community and the western states. It all started in the 1940s with the displacement of the Palestinians.
