From the world of law, Nabih Berri entered the world of politics in the 1960s after he became one of the closest people to Imam Moussa Sadr.
Berri was appointed as Justice Minister in 1984 in the cabinet of PM Rashid Karame. He occupied several ministries over the following cabinets until 1992, when he was elected Speaker for the first time.
