Just like every year, 2017 had its disappointments, achievements and crises.
The first hours of the year were the most tragic with the attack targeting La Rena nightclub in the Turkish capital of Istanbul, leaving three Lebanese nationals dead and five injured.
However, in 2017 also, terrorism was crushed in Lebanon, and the eastern mountainous regions were liberated from militants, following the operation launched by the Lebanese Armed Forces.
On another note, the past year was marked by an unprecedented political move that triggered a dangerous crisis on Lebanon’s political scene when Prime Minister Saad Hariri announced his resignation in a televised speech from Saudi Arabia.
2017 had also its achievements, such as the new electoral law, passing a national budget for the first time in 12 years, passing the long awaited pay scale for the public sector employees.
