REPORT: Issue of carcinogenic medicines and pesticides to the forefront again

Minister of health Ghassan Hasbani and Minister of Agriculture Ghazi Zoeiter held a meeting that was kept under wraps.

 

The meeting tackled the entry of carcinogenic agricultural medicines and pesticides to Lebanon whereby the following steps were agreed on:

-    Forming a committee of experts to examine these medicine and pesticides and their effects on the public health,

 

-    Banning the entry of any medicine and pesticides that are not included in resolution 1048 pending the recommendations of the committee,

 

-    Carrying out tight control procedure to determine whether these pesticides affected any vegetables and fruits or no.
