Sources from the GDS Company stressed that data and Internet are not services that are under the monopoly of the Ministry of Telecommunications, whether under the old telecom law or the new telecom law (law 413), adding that this has been confirmed in every single Telecom tariff decree issued from the council of ministers since 1997.
The company’s statement comes in response to stance launched by head of the Telecom committee MP Hassan Fadlallah, regarding the decision of Telecom Minister Jamal al-Jarrah to allow GDS to use the state’s ducts to extend fiber to houses.
