The lawsuit filed by Wissam Achour and the Eden Bay company against MTV station does not resemble any other suit filed against a Lebanese media outlet.
The legal suit accuses MTV of yellow press practices, seeking to extort money under threats.
The lawsuit is based on a report aired by MTV on January 14 concerning the Eden Bay project and its violations, which according to the suit, they are false.
The lawsuit added that MTV contacted Achour and Eden Bay on January 15, calling on them to settle the issue by paying $ 246,000 to the TV station in exchange of promoting and defending the resort.
The Eden Bay Company wanted to lure MTV in order to prove the extortion attempts, asking the station to send an email of the offer. And it did.
The offer included airing 13 show episodes from the resort along with 650 promotional spots, as well as other offers to talk about the resort and its features. It also offered to cover the opening of the Eden Bay resort.
When contacted, MTV refused to comment on Achour’s accusations.
